Beautiful flowers bloom throughout the four seasons, and there are 730 cherry blossoms in the park that was selected as one of the “100 Best Cherry Blossom Places in Japan.” It is known as one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the prefecture. Around Tsuruoka Park, where historical sites and cultural assets gather, the atmosphere of the castle town remains dark.
A facility that displays and introduces the history and culture of Tsuruoka. What was originally a mansion of the Shonai lord Sakai family is now available as a museum. Precious historical buildings such as the former Nishitagawa-gun government office designated as a nationally designated important cultural property, multi-story private houses, and the former Tsuruoka police station government office have been relocated. In addition, the “Sakai Garden”, a rare Shoin garden, and the “Popular Cultural Asset Storage”, which tells the life culture of the Shonai region, store important tangible folk cultural properties.

With an educational policy that emphasizes autonomy and emphasis on independence, the focus was on developing strengths according to each person's nature, creating a soil that fosters a culture of simple and robust education. Currently, there are Omotesando, Seiseki, Auditorium, and Iruma, which are open to the public as nationally designated historic sites. It is the only one that exists in the Tohoku region and is known for its historical and cultural value.
